Before it was a movie, The Wolf of Wall Street was a book. And in that book, Jordan Belfort wrote this:
"Without action, the best intentions in the world are nothing more than that: intentions."
So true, right??!!
Friend, it takes action to get things done ... to achieve goals ... to turn dreams into reality.
Without action, nothing happens.
However, is action enough?
Consider this:
"Intent without dedicated action is simply not enough. Action without a clear intent is a waste. It is when these two powerful forces are aligned that the energy of the universe conspires in your favor."
That was written by Steve Maraboli in his 1999 bestseller Life, the Truth, and Being Free. And it's still true today.
Action must be combined with intent for it to mean something ... for it to get you somewhere.
Action simply for the sake of action is like driving a car with no destination in mind. Action without intent is us simply going through the motions. And we deserve more than that. So do our families, friends, customers, employees ... everyone we care about. Your action doesn't have to be perfect (I talk about that down below in this month's Success Tip), there just needs to be a purpose, a reason, an intent behind it. So, I encourage you to be intentional with your actions. Large and small, make them count.
SUCCESS TIP OF THE MONTH
Don't let the fear of uncertainty stop you from taking action. Don't let perfection get in the way of progress.
Too often, leaders get caught up in trying to intellectualize every situation and make
sure that every decision is analyzed from all angles. Analysis Paralysis! This can be counterproductive.
Instead of allowing yourself to get paralyzed by the unknown, take bold steps and trust your instincts. Believe in yourself and your vision for the future.
It's hard to perfect something if you haven't even started yet! Doing something can be really freeing. Even if it doesn't turn out perfect, it doesn't mean the effort was wasted. Every mistake can be a lesson and help you achieve better results later.
It's time to focus on action instead of aimless obsessing. To put in an effort instead of grasping at results. To take risks, try things out, and make mistakes. To celebrate progress and challenge the status quo.
The world won't fall apart without you striving for perfection. So, take off the pressure, let yourself explore and experience life as it comes.
Take control of your own progress and enjoy the satisfaction of completing a project. It may not be perfect, but it's yours. Believe in yourself, and do today what others won't, so you can do tomorrow what they can’t. Greatness does not happen with just knowledge, but with action.
