Recognizing Burnout in Ourselves

Date: October 1, 2021

Change is In the Air

It's a new month, new season (Hello Fall!), new quarter! Change is definitely in the air

... hopefully literally! We need some blue skies for a change.

We've rounded the corner and are in the homestretch of the calendar year, and I don't know about you, but I am pretty happy to see it.

In the midst of the changes around us, I encourage you to make time to connect with others and make some fun fall memories with family and friends (check out the recommended events below for some ideas and opportunities). I hope you embrace Q4 and use it to set yourself up for a great 2022.

Now, I want to respect your time and attention, so let's get to more of the good stuff ...

SUCCESS TIP OF THE MONTH

It's important to recognize burnout in ourselves so that we can deal with and overcome it.

Recognizing burnout in ourselves requires us to really pull the pieces apart while acknowledging the exhaustion or irritability without judgement. And then we can drill down to find out what is causing that experience.

Are you experiencing burnout due to work overload, a family issue, or another factor? To get to the heart of the matter ... are you taking care of yourself?

Once you've acknowledged - without judging! - why you're experiencing burnout, here are 4 tips to help you deal with or overcome it:

Get support! Support from your team, friends, family, a professional therapist or coach could help you overcome and avoid burnout.

Set a workday. Boundaries for work time and personal time are important for preventing burnout.

Practice stress relief each day. Consider taking those meal breaks, regular stretching, listening to music, take a walk and just breathe.

Take vacation time! Do you remember those? Everyone needs time to rest, relax and re-energize.
